Licensing

Maps are effective communication tools whether used alone or in combination with other materials. Like virtually all graphic material, maps are protected by copyright laws. It is illegal to duplicate and redistribute our maps on paper or electronically without our permission. We want to make it easy to stay on the right side of the copyright law with affordable licensing for our mapping imagery.

Single copies from any of our maps for personal use only may be made without written permission, under the provisions of US copyright law. For multiple copies, please contact us.

Maps make great illustrations to both print and web explanations, and in many cases, our maps are the clearest, easiest-to-read ones available. Consider licensing our imagery for your next project.

Pricing

Single copies from any of our maps for personal use only may be made without written permission, under the provisions of US copyright law. For more copies, please contact us. Our minimum charge is $100. In select cases, we offer reduced pricing for individuals and non-profit groups. This license entitles you to up to 1000 black and white copies from one map, on pages up to 8-1/2 x 14”. For larger license amounts, color, or larger size sheets, please contact us directly.

For use on the web, we require that a notice ©Hedberg Maps, Inc. be located in, or immediately adjacent to, the map. A minimum license fee of $100 for material scanned from paper sources applies, and a minimum fee of $75 applies for original electronic files from us. Please contact us for more information. Special arrangements may be made for non-profit or educational institutions. Our normal web license lasts for three years... We hope by then you’ll want an update anyway!
